Texas Vision is a new type of photography adventure with an old West twist. Each day will be a combination of class instruction, review of images and shooting rodeo and western lifestyle. The adventure includes: Sunset and Sunrise Chuck Wagon Dinner/Breakfast on the ranch, 2 nights of rodeo, working cowboys on a ranch, cattle dog herding, and professional cowboy portraits. By the end of class you will have experienced shooting action, lifestyle, portraits and day to day life on a working ranch. The skills learned can be applied to all areas of photography.

Two PRCA Rodeo Photographer instructors teach at this Rodeo Photography Workshop focusing on Photographing Saddle Bronc Riding and Bareback Bronc Riding. Hands on Photographing all the Bronc Riding Action, and behind the scenes and more. Along with classroom and editing sessions. An experience like non other featuring the broncs from Cervi Championship Rodeo. Terri Abrahamsen and Jerry Gustafson are experienced professional Rodeo Photographers that enjoy sharing many nuggets of wisdom.

Join wild horse photographer Steve Anchell for 3 exciting days of photographing wild mustangs in the badlands of Wyoming. The mares will have foaled, and the herds have come down from the high country to forage and find water. The colts will be frisky and not too dependent on the mares. We will be out before sunrise scouting and photographing small herds, take a break in the afternoon, and go out again until the sun goes down. Steve will provide instructions on composition, camera settings, and how to capture the action. Get up close photographs of these magnificent wild horses. Limited to 8.
June 8 -11, 2023
Join me for 3 1/2 days of photographing the beautiful and diverse Onaqui wild horses of Utah. This herd area is 1 1/2 hours southwest of Salt Lake City. It is one of the most dynamic, colorful and easiest herds of wild horses to photograph. They number around 350 and are divided into various bands that live within a large high desert valley. We will be driving on good gravel roads and also hiking short distances. Participants will stay in Toole, Utah, which is about 45 minutes from the herd area. Some driving required. Hotel and food will be at participant’s own expense. $1100, $500 deposit.

For the 3rd year straight, Jake Kielbus will be instructing and leading up to 10 participants during peak photography season at historic Sweetgrass Ranch nestled in the Crazy Mountains of Montana. Jake's main purpose is to share with eager photographers how to cultivate their own unique vision. There will be ample shooting opportunities to photograph a herd of 60+ beautiful horses, sensational sunrises and sunsets, atmospheric landscapes, and the Milky Way. Sweet Grass Ranch is a magical destination; a place where wild horses run free and open space is endless.

Mongolia is one of the last frontiers that has a portion of the population living as they did centuries ago. During this 10 day, nine nights photo tour, we will start in Ulaanbaatar. A exclusive session is arranged with Mongolians in traditional nomadic costume. We will visit Kharkorin the ancient capital, attend a horse festival, have a morning with an “eagle trainer”, soak in a famous hot springs, visit with nomadic families near the Gobi desert and spend time with the Przewalski horses. These are just a few highlights of many things planned.

Join us for five nights at the beautiful Powderhorn Ranch in wild and wonderful Wyoming as we enjoy the hospitality and horsemanship of the wonderful True family. This will be our tenth year welcomed back to this truly special place where you can leave the world behind for a little while and enjoy the essence of the western landscapes and lifestyle. Shoots include herd drives, cowgirl and cowboy portraits, dramatic landscape scenes, magical barn light and all sorts of action and fun in between.

This experience will be learning intensive with a focus on classroom learning and shooting. Beautiful working ranch setting with spacious, comfortable accommodations. Scheduled shoots are all western equine themed and include a wide range of setups. Instructors will be available during the shoots to direct models and help participants with capturing the images they envision. Classroom topics covered will include editing, creativity, camera knowledge, composition, business, mindset and more. Mentoring from one or all of the instructors is available and encouraged.

These are intimate, educational courses, and we keep each workshop to a maximum of 12 students. Nestled in Idaho’s Big Lost Valley, the Three Sisters Ranch is located in one of the most beautiful and remote landscapes. The majestic Lost River Range is a part of the Rocky Mountains and looms over the ranch in all its glory.

Join this Facebook-based mentor group led by dressage photographer Sharon Packer to develop these skills with valuable feedback offered on your images.
