Stoecklein Photography Workshops are distinct and immersive western experiences. We collaborate with ranch’s cowboys and cowgirls to offer students authentic scenarios. These real-life adventures in the field help students of all levels expand their knowledge. Nestled in Idaho’s Big Lost Valley, the majestic Lost River Range looks down over the Three Sisters Ranch, peaking at over 12,000 feet. This was David Stoecklein’s favorite place to capture imagery. Students will capture fall colors in the mountains, running horses, and candid moments with cowboys, cowgirls, and cattle.

There are few things in the world that rival Colorado’s beauty in autumn. This photography adventure meets that fall color in the middle of the Flat Top Wilderness with spectacular scenery and new shooting opportunities. Our host for this adventure is Trapper’s Lake Lodge, located about 40 miles outside Meeker, Colorado. Guide Kaysyn, an accomplished photographer in her own right, has set us up ranch/equine shoots at a couple of local ranches as well as in the wilderness around the Lodge itself. This event will be light on the educational opportunities but heavy on the shooting opportunities.

This unique Art of Rodeo Photography Workshop and adventure, includes hands on photography of Bronc Riding-both Saddle Bronc Riding and Bareback Riding. A bonus photo opp is the running of the broncs in from the pastures. An experience like none other! Terri Abrahamsen is an experienced and award winning Professional Rodeo Photographer with 50 plus years of experience. As a carded PRCA Photographer, Terri will be sharing many nuggets of wisdom including best angles, lighting and capturing amazing action photos of these broncs and cowboys. Graced with winter snow, you'll photograph the horses and the cowboys and cowgirls in action in a large variety of settings. We'll have plenty of creature comforts in a relaxed, idyllic Western homestead with all-inclusive fine dining, cocktail hours, and luxurious rooms. This workshop is rated Easy for physical exertion. Full model and property releases will be provided to all participants. Image critique and classroom sessions will be scheduled during our time together.

If you're fascinated by the land where art and science meet, you'll be in your element at this unique breeding ranch. The horses are super large and super sweet! We get up close and personal with them. This workshop experience is as much about being with horses as it is about photographing them. April 27-29 ~Return to Freedom Photography Workshop and Editing Lab at RTF Headquarters Sanctuary in Lompoc, CA ~ Two full days of photography with the various bands and herds at the ranch. In addition, we may have the opportunity to do some barn portraits in addition to setting up an editing lab in the barn. April 30-May 2 ~ Return to Freedom Safari, San Luis Obispo ~ 2.5 Days with the rescued mustangs on their 2000 acre sanctuary. Includes two sunrise shoots and three sunset shoots. Includes group editing time. These workshops' proceeds benefit Return to Freedom Wild Horse Conservation.

Experience the western way of life, shooting rodeo and day to day life on a Texas Ranch. The workshop is hosted at 9-Bar Ranch, a 12,000 head working ranch in the heart of cowboy country. Each day will be a combination of class instruction, review of images and shooting rodeo and western lifestyle. You will even take part in sunset and sunrise shoots and Chuck Wagon meals on the ranch. By the end of class, you will have experienced shooting action, lifestyle, portraits and day to day life on a working ranch. The skills learned can be applied to all areas of photography.
