Sue Brown

Sue Brown is a fine art photographer whose work emerges from a lifetime spent in the company of horses and wild things. A lifelong artist and horsewoman raised in Texas, she competed at the national level in reining and western pleasure, winning multiple U.S. and Canadian championships — a foundation of lived experience that informs every image she makes. Her work spans three distinct bodies — gritty western imagery inspired by the painterly traditions of Russell and Remington, elegant studies of heritage breeds like Arabians and Andalusians, and evocative wildlife photography. All three are marked by a signature quality: images so richly textured and emotionally alive that viewers consistently ask whether they are looking at a photograph or a painting. Sue regularly competes in national and international photography competitions and continues to develop her craft through advanced educational opportunities and rigorous critique. She photographs throughout North America and Europe and is based in Minnesota.
