Hello! I’m Malcolm, a Devon-based equestrian photographer, and I specialise in capturing the genuine moments of your unique partnership with your horse and your horse’s character.

There's no prompting, posing or directing. Just honest emotion-filled images that document your relationship with your horse and his or her character in a way that will make you want to reach for your photo book time and time again.

I grew up in Sussex, and now I live in Devon. I studied agriculture at Brinsbury & Plumpton Agricultural Colleges and have always worked with horses. I am now lucky enough to own them with my wife Juliette on the edge of Dartmoor.

My enthusiasm for photographing horses is obvious, and it is this passion that has allowed me to develop my own unique contemporary documentary style of photography which is proving immensely popular in the equestrian world from professional riders wanting to update their websites, to those needing help with their branding, to one horse owners who simply want to record their love for their horse in a series of photographs.

For me, having the opportunity to photograph this special bond is a privilege and my wholehearted commitment to producing stunning images documenting your story will be cherished for a lifetime.

When I am not photographing, I am a keen hiker and in my spare time I love walking on Dartmoor taking photographs of the Dartmoor Ponies in their natural landscape as I go.

Photography and foals are a match made in heaven for me with foals a paticular favourite subject of mine. Their inquisitive nature, expressions and emotions are uninhibited and they always have an innocence and carefree attitude that make for great photographs. You can see some of this work in my Dartmoor Portfolio.

My approach to and style of photography is completely unobtrusive which means I will never dictate, prompt, move or direct you but rather I will work in such a way that enables me to capture the character of your horse and the unique relationship you have with him or her.

Through taking this natural approach to photography, I create images that are a tangible reminder of the spirit of your horse and the emotions and feelings that that very special bond you have with him gives you.

I prefer shooting in natural light as it preserves the natural dimensions of a moment in an image. I am at my most creative when left to move around capturing those perfect shots and those moments you may never have even noticed.

There will be no prompting, no directing, no spot-colouring or fake blurred images. I will just quietly observe and document the day leaving you with honest, emotion-filled images. By their very nature, photographs are captured moments in time, moments that, in most instances, can never be posed or recreated.

However, if you do want a handful of posed shots that's fine too. I fully understand the requirement for these and I will undertake any formal shots very quickly to allow you to get on with enjoying yourself.
