|About Carol Walker
Carol's passion for photography began at an early age, when she took her first portrait of her parents at age 4. Pet Photography was an early interest, with her dogs as her favorite subjects while growing up. She studied photography at Smith College and after graduation, continued studying in Southern Californai with famous portrait photographer Leigh Weiner. She has travelled all over the world photographing wildlife and has studied with pros in the field, including Dan Cox, Thomas Campbell, Norbert Wu and Jim Church. She continues her education with yearly classes in Digital Photography,Photoshop and Lightroom.
Carol started Living Images by Carol Walker in 2000. Carolís images illuminate the relationship between horses and their people, as well showcase the beauty of horses with her stunning images of horses at liberty.
Carol teaches workshops for amateur photographers on equine photography. Her commercial work includes catalog covers for leaders in the Equine industry. She has had numerous calendars published featuring her work, and she markets her fine art prints from her website www.LivingImagesCJW.com as well as in several locations on the Front Range of Colorado. Carol has done presentations on equine photography and on wild horses at Equine Affaire in CA, OH and MA as well as at the Western States Horse Expo. Nine years ago, Carol began photographing wild horses. As she followed several herds in Wyoming, Colorado and Montana, she became aware of how precarious their situation on public lands has become. Since then, she has dedicated herself to educating people with her photographs and stories about the wild horses. She is one of the leading advocates working to keep Americaís wild horses wild and free on our public lands. Her book Wild Hoofbeats: Americaís Vanishing Wild Horses is available at www.WildHoofbeats.com. The award-winning book was released winter of 2008 and is currently in its second printing. Carolís second book, Horse Photography: The Dynamic Guide for Horse Lovers is in its second printing as well and is available at www.HorsePhotographyWorkshops.com.
Carol is a member in good standing of the following professional organizations: Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of Colorado, Nature Phtographers of North America, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, and Equine Photographers Network.
