2018 Chincoteague Meet Up

Postby EPNet Admin on Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:43 am

Chincoteague Meet Up
December 8-9, 2018

Please send an email to info@equinephotographers.org if you plan to come so we can get you on the email list that will put participants in touch with each other. A bus tour and boat tour for Saturday and Sunday will be offered, and we will plan to have dinner on Friday and Saturday together. There will be a charge for the boat and bus tours, the rest is pay as you go.

Plan your trip by going here:

More info on the refuge can be found here:

There is a $10 usage fee per car for the refuge, this will get you into both north and south ends and is good for a week.

The refuge is open from dawn till dusk, and this is the time of day when you will see the most snow goose activity. There is a wild life loop that is open to vehicles every afternoon. There are trails for hiking and a lighthouse. Lots of bird life and of course ponies.

If you are driving from the north we highly recommend visiting the northern, Maryland end of the island, you will see ponies there. From there it is about another hour to the southern end in Virginia.

Lodging and meals will be up to you, a boat tour is planned for Saturday and bus tour into the refuge for Sunday. There will be charges for both of these tours, everything will pay as you go so last minute decisions are OK, depending on spaces.

We will plan to have a group meal on Friday and Saturday night.

There are lots of lodging options on Chincoteague. A good choice is the Best Western which is closest to the refuge. Other very reasonable lodging is also available on the island.
