Lens Recommendation

Postby CM on Mon Apr 05, 2010 5:05 pm

I am looking to purchase a zoom lens for my Nikon D300. I would like some suggestions for low light, action shots. I've rented a 70-200 and found it was faster than my 18-200 but still had blurring when shooting the indoor arena - even during daylight. Can someone offer suggestions on the best zoom lens for my current set up? I'm looking in the 1000-2500 price range.

the 70-200 2.8 lens is the one to have, get one with VR or IS if you are shooting handheld, but I highjly recommend a monopod and jack up your ISO as high as it will tolerate for your particular camera. On the D300 you should be able to go as high as 2000ISO and get good results.

This. Monopod helps immensely if you're tracking. The VR & the 2.8 w/ high ISO are a powerful combo. I recently shot a night wedding by candle & fairy light with this set up.
I'm Michealle. I LOVE art.
