Solstice Snow by Karen Bayerl

Central Wisconsin was gray, completely overcast and snowy for the Winter Solstice this year. With some areas of 4 to 5 feet drifts in the pasture, I was awaiting Josh to come around the corner and make his way toward me through the plowed path and show the depth of the snow, but he stopped to pull snow off of the pines surrounding the pasture. Always a pasture clown and wanting to entertain and play.

Breath of Winter by Elly Foote

This is in the central interior of northern British Columbia, Canada, overlooking Uncha Lake. Amadeus, our PRE spanish stallion was having a good fast play with Capataz, 4 year old gelding and I got a lot of running and rearing shots - when the horses stopped, I marvelled how the late light of the day played on the shape of the stallion and how I could see his breath in the cold air.
